HOUSE RESOLUTION

No. 222 Session of 1980


        INTRODUCED BY MESSRS. RYAN AND IRVIS, APRIL 8, 1980

        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, APRIL 8, 1980

                          In the House of Representatives, April 8, 1980

     1     WHEREAS, May 2, 1980, marks the seventy-fifth anniversary of
     2  the creation of the Pennsylvania State Police; and
     3     WHEREAS, Governor Dick Thornburgh has proclaimed May 2, 1980
     4  as "State Police Day" in Pennsylvania; and
     5     WHEREAS, The men and women of the Pennsylvania State Police
     6  have faithfully served this Commonwealth throughout the past
     7  seventy-five years, protecting Pennsylvania citizens in all
     8  phases of their lives; and
     9     WHEREAS, Pennsylvania is honored with the notable distinction
    10  of being the home of the first such police organization in the
    11  country; and
    12     WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State Police force is deserving of
    13  the fine reputation it enjoys on both the State and National
    14  levels, being first ranked among all states with officers
    15  providing criminal law enforcement and traffic patrol service;
    16  and
    17     WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State Police organization has


     1  continuously adjusted to meet the changing needs of society,
     2  ever maintaining its reputation for fairness, thoroughness and
     3  integrity; therefore be it
     4     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the
     5  Commonwealth of Pennsylvania commends the outstanding service of
     6  the Pennsylvania State Police and extends congratulations to the
     7  unit on this seventy-fifth anniversary; and be it further
     8     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the
     9  Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner.
