        INTRODUCED BY AUSTIN, CESSAR, KUKOVICH, SALVATORE, KERNICK,
           MRKONIC, COWELL, DAWIDA, HOEFFEL, DeWEESE, CHESS, NOVAK,
           KNIGHT, ZELLER, ZWIKL, POTT, McVERRY, TADDONIO, ZORD,
           WACHOB, McCALL, KOLTER, HARPER, MICHLOVIC, MURPHY, ITKIN,
           SHUPNICK, MUSTO, STEWART, LEVI, McMONAGLE AND GRAY,

        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, JULY 10, 1979

                          In the House of Representatives, July 10, 1979

     1     WHEREAS, There now exists in State government approximately
     2  500 boards, commissions, councils, committees and task forces;
     3  and
     4     WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the House of Representatives to
     5  know, on a continuing basis, the functions and costs of all
     6  boards, commissions, etc.; therefore be it
     7     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the
     8  Commonwealth of Pennsylvania direct the Legislative Budget and
     9  Finance Committee, the Legislative Data Processing Center and
    10  the Legislative Office for Research Liaison to jointly conduct a
    11  thorough study of all boards, commissions, councils, committees
    12  and task forces established by statute or resolution and to
    13  develop a precise way to update annually the lists of boards,
    14  committees, etc., including, but not limited to the purposes,
    15  number and type of membership and cost; and be it further


     1     RESOLVED, That the three legislative service agencies named
     2  above jointly report their findings and make recommendations to
     3  the House of Representatives within six months of the approval
     4  of this resolution.
