AN ACT
1 Designating the official flag of the Commonwealth of
2 Pennsylvania, describing the same and making a repeal.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. (a) The flag to be known as the official flag of
6 the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania shall consist of a blue field
7 with a union of alternate stripes, seven red and six white, in
8 the upper corner on the left or next to the staff.
9 (b) Superimposed and centered upon the union shall be a blue
10 keystone.
11 (c) The blue field outside the union shall contain white
12 stars of five equal points equal in number to the States in the
13 Union, arranged in even rows evenly spaced and as symmetrically
14 as may be. (In the case of the present 50 states there shall be
15 six rows arranged from top to bottom in rows respectively of
16 six, five, six, eleven, eleven and eleven. In the case of other
17 than 50 states the Governor shall specify the arrangement by
1 appropriate regulation.)
2 (d) The shade and intensity of the colors shall be the same
3 as those officially prescribed or used for the flag of the
4 United States.
5 (e) In order to complement and conform as nearly as
6 practical to the dimensions of the flag of the United States as
7 fixed by executive order of the President of the United States,
8 the official flag of the Commonwealth shall have the following
9 dimensions and proportions:
10 (1) One unit shall be any linear dimension.
11 (2) The hoist, or width, shall be 1.00 unit.
12 (3) The fly, or length, shall be 1.9 units.
13 (4) The hoist of the union shall be 0.50 unit.
14 (5) The fly of the union shall be 0.76 unit.
15 (6) The width of each stripe shall be one-thirteenth the
16 hoist of the union or approximately 0.0385 unit.
17 (7) The diameter of each shall shall be 0.09 unit.
18 (8) The hoist of the keystone shall be six-thirteenths
19 the hoist of the union, or approximately 0.2308 unit.
20 (9) The fly of the keystone shall be 0.125 unit at the
21 upper top and at the bottom, and six-thirteenths the hoist of
22 the union, or approximately 0.2308 unit, at the lower top,
23 and the lower top shall be one-sixth the hoist of the
24 keystone or approximately 0.0385 unit below the upper top.
25 Section 2. The act of June 13, 1907 (P.L.560, No.373),
26 entitled "An act designating the official flag of the
27 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and describing the same; providing
28 for the carrying of such flag by the regiments of the National
29 Guard of Pennsylvania; authorizing the Secretary of the
30 Commonwealth to provide, and have deposited in the office of

1 Secretary of the Commonwealth, a model of said flag, and making
2 an appropriation," is hereby repealed.
3 Section 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
