AN ACT
1 Amending the act of July 28, 1953 (P.L.723, No.230), entitled,
2 as amended, "An act relating to counties of the second class
3 and second class A; amending, revising, consolidating and
4 changing the laws relating thereto," providing for an annual
5 actuarial valuation of the State Employes' Retirement System
6 so that the board may increase or decrease monthly
7 contributions.
8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
9 hereby enacts as follows:
10 Section 1. Section 1708, act of July 28, 1953 (P.L.723,
11 No.230), known as the "Second Class County Code," is amended by
12 adding a subsection to read:
13 Section 1708. Compulsory Membership; Employes Payment Into
14 Fund; Exceptions; Vested Interest.--* * *
15 (d) To aid and assist the board in maintaining the actuarial
16 soundness of the State Employes' Retirement Fund, the board
17 shall cause to be performed an annual actuarial valuation of the
18 State Employes' Retirement System. The board, guided by the
19 annual actuarial valuation of the State Employes' Retirement
20 System, shall have the authority, each year, to increase or
1 decrease the said monthly contribution required to be made by
2 each county employe into the retirement fund.
3 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
