AN ACT 1 Amending REPEALING the act of June 1, 1956 (1955 P.L.1959, <-- 2 No.657), entitled, as amended, "An act fixing the salaries 3 and compensation of the Chief Justice and judges of the 4 Supreme Court, the President Judge and judges of the Superior 5 Court, the judges of the courts of common pleas, the judges 6 of the orphans' courts, the judges of the County Court of 7 Philadelphia and the judges of the County Court and Juvenile 8 Court of Allegheny County, certain associate judges not 9 learned in the law, certain state officers and the salary and 10 expenses of the members of the General Assembly, and 11 repealing certain inconsistent acts." further providing for <-- 12 reports of the Commonwealth Compensation Commission. 13 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 14 hereby enacts as follows: 15 Section 1. Subsection (b) of section 14.2, THE act of June <-- 16 1, 1956 (1955 P.L.1959, No.657), referred to as the Public 17 Official Compensation Law, added June 29, 1976 (P.L.452, <-- 18 No.111), is amended to read: IS REPEALED. <-- 19 Section 14.2. * * * <-- 20 (b) The commission shall make an exhaustive study of the 21 salaries, emoluments, mileage, per diem, travel and other 22 expense allowances and reimbursements of the Governor, the
1 Lieutenant Governor, the cabinet officers, the Auditor General 2 and the State Treasurer, the justices and judges of the Supreme 3 Court, the Superior Court, the Commonwealth Court, the courts of 4 common pleas, the Municipal Court of Philadelphia and the 5 Traffic Court of Philadelphia, and the officers and members of 6 the General Assembly. As soon as is practicable after the 7 effective date of this act for the initial report, and 8 thereafter for subsequent reports no later than 31 days before 9 the commencement of each term of the members of the General 10 Assembly, the commission shall submit to the Governor, the Chief 11 Justice, the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker 12 of the House of Representatives its report establishing such 13 salaries, emoluments, mileage, per diem, travel and other 14 expense allowances. 15 The initial report shall take effect immediately, unless, 16 within 30 days following the date of submission thereof the 17 General Assembly shall, by concurrent resolution reject the 18 report, in whole or part, or enacts legislation as hereinafter 19 provided in this section. Reports submitted subsequent to the 20 [initial report shall take effect and have the force and effect 21 of law at the beginning of the first pay period of the 22 subsequent term of the General Assembly or the date of 23 assumption of office of persons affected thereby after such 24 date, unless within 30 days following the date of submission 25 thereof, the General Assembly shall, by concurrent resolution, 26 reject the said report, in whole or in part, or unless within 27 said period the General Assembly shall enact legislation which 28 establishes a rate of pay or allowance differing from that 29 recommended by said report in whole or in part. 1 legislation so adopted shall have the force and effect of law as 2 herein provided.] effective date of this amendatory act shall 3 have no legal effect unless the General Assembly shall, by 4 concurrent resolution adopt the report within 30 days of 5 submission thereof. If the General Assembly adopts the report in 6 whole or in part within 30 days of submission thereof the 7 adopted portion shall take effect and have the force and effect 8 of law at the beginning of the first pay period of the 9 subsequent term of the General Assembly or the date of 10 assumption of office of persons affected thereby after such 11 date. 12 Section 2.
