                          In the House of Representatives, June 19, 1978

     1     WHEREAS, There have been serious allegations regarding the
     2  conduct of the Department of Environmental Resources in its
     3  dealings with the now bankrupt Blue Coal Company; and
     4     WHEREAS, These allegations involve the possible
     5  nonenforcement of the Commonwealth's laws which were designed to
     6  protect Pennsylvania's citizens and environment; therefore be it
     7     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives directs the House
     8  standing committee on Mines and Energy Management to conduct a
     9  thorough investigation of the conduct of the Department of
    10  Environmental Resources as it relates to the Blue Coal Company
    11  to determine whether any negligent activity was involved; and be
    12  it further
    13     RESOLVED, That the committee report its findings to the House
    14  of Representatives together with any recommendations for
    15  remedial legislation as soon as possible.
