AN ACT
1 Amending the act of June 3, 1937 (P.L.1225, No.316), entitled
2 "An act concerning game and other wild birds and wild
3 animals; and amending, revising, consolidating, and changing
4 the law relating thereto," extending the privileges of
5 special permits to disabled persons to other qualified
6 individuals.
7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
8 hereby enacts as follows:
9 Section 1. Section 418.1, act of June 3, 1937 (P.L.1225,
10 No.316), known as "The Game Law," amended March 23, 1970
11 (P.L.201, No.80), is amended to read:
12 Section 418.1. (a) The Pennsylvania Game Commission is
13 hereby authorized to issue to a disabled person who is suffering
14 from paraplegia and has permanent paralysis of both legs and
15 lower parts of the body, or who is suffering from hemiplegia and
16 has permanent paralysis of one leg and one arm or either side of
17 the body, or who has suffered amputation of both feet or one
18 hand and one foot or is permanently confined to a wheelchair or
19 must use crutches or other similar means of support to pursue
20 his daily activities or to any person who presents a doctor's
1 certificate that said person is unable to walk for extended 2 periods of time and who qualifies for a hunting license under 3 the provisions of article III of this act, a special permit 4 permitting said person to hunt while using an automobile or 5 vehicle. The commission shall prescribe rules and regulations 6 requiring applicants for this permission to submit reasons for 7 granting of this request, and shall require said persons, if 8 permission is granted, to carry said permits upon their person 9 while hunting. 10 (b) The Pennsylvania Game Commission may issue a special 11 permit to any person who presents a doctor's certificate that 12 the person is physically unable to walk for an extended period 13 of time, authorizing him to hunt for, pursue, and kill from an 14 automobile or vehicle on regulated shooting grounds those 15 species of game authorized for release on such areas, subject to 16 rules and regulations prescribed by the commission. The 17 permittee shall carry the permit on his person while hunting on 18 regulated shooting grounds and shall, in addition, display a 19 current valid hunting license. 20 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall 21 be applicable to the license year beginning September 1, 1978. C13L29RZ/19780H2148B2749 - 2 -
