                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, further providing for the contents of driver's
     3     license.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Subsections (a) and (c) of section 1510 of Title
     7  75, act of November 25, 1970 (P.L.707, No.230), known as the
     8  Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, added June 14, 1976 (No.81),
     9  are amended to read:
    10  § 1510.  Issuance and content of driver's license.
    11     (a)  General rule.--The department shall, upon payment of the
    12  required fee, issue to every qualified applicant a driver's
    13  license indicating the type or general class of vehicles the
    14  licensee is authorized to drive, which license shall contain a
    15  distinguishing number identifying the licensee, the actual name,
    16  date of birth, residence address, a color photograph of the
    17  licensee, an indication of whether or not the applicant is
    18  registered as an anatomical organ donor, such other information


     1  as may be required by the department, and either a facsimile of
     2  the signature of the licensee or a space upon which the licensee
     3  shall write his usual signature with pen and ink. Personal
     4  medical data and other information for use in an emergency may
     5  be included as a part of the license. Information other than
     6  that required to identify the licensee, the distinguishing
     7  number and the class of license issued may be included in
     8  microdata form. No driver's license shall be valid until it has
     9  been signed by the licensee.

    11     (c)  Anatomical donors.--Any person who is registered as an
    12  anatomical organ donor and who has in his possession a card
    13  issued by the recipient organization may attach the card to the
    14  reverse side of his driver's license or identification card
    15  whether or not the license indicates that the person is
    16  registered as an anatomical organ donor. The card shall be
    17  attached in such a way as to permit [the] its removal [of this
    18  card] should the person no longer desire to be designated as an
    19  anatomical donor. Information concerning registered donor status
    20  may be included as a part of the person's personal medical data.

    22     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately or July 1,
    23  1977, whichever is later.
