        AS RE-REPORTED FROM COMMITTEE ON APPROPRIATIONS, HOUSE OF
           REPRESENTATIVES, AS AMENDED, MAY 22, 1978

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), entitled "An
     2     act to consolidate, editorially revise, and codify the public
     3     welfare laws of the Commonwealth," further providing for
     4     eligibility for and amount of State blind pensions.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Clause (3) of section 506 and section 507, act of
     8  June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), known as the "Public Welfare
     9  Code," amended December 26, 1974 (P.L.991, No.324), are amended
    10  to read:
    11     Section 506.  Eligibility.--The department shall provide a
    12  State blind pension to any blind person who:

    14     (3)  Has actual annual income of his own of less than [three
    15  thousand six hundred dollars ($3600)] three thousand eight        <--
    16  hundred dollars ($3,800)FOUR THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS         <--
    17  ($4,200);

     1     Section 507.  Amount of Pension.--Except as provided for
     2  payment for nursing home care, the amount paid after the
     3  effective date of this act to an eligible blind person having
     4  actual annual income of his own of [two thousand five hundred
     5  eighty dollars ($2580)] two thousand seven hundred twenty         <--
     6  dollars ($2720) THREE THOUSAND SIXTY DOLLARS ($3060) or less      <--
     7  shall be [eighty-five dollars ($85)] ninety dollars ($90)         <--
     8  NINETY-FIVE DOLLARS ($95) monthly, and the monthly amount paid    <--
     9  to any other eligible blind person shall be fixed in such amount
    10  that the sum of his actual annual income and State blind pension
    11  equals [three thousand six hundred dollars ($3600)] three         <--
    12  thousand eight hundred dollars ($3,800) FOUR THOUSAND TWO         <--
    13  HUNDRED DOLLARS ($4,200) a year.
    14     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately. IN 60      <--
