                           In the House of Representatives, May 12, 1976

     1     WHEREAS, The United States Government is continuing its
     2  practice of massive deficit spending; and
     3     WHEREAS, These spending policies result in rapid inflation
     4  and the weakening of the dollar both at home and abroad; and
     5     WHEREAS, The United States should be required to operate on a
     6  balanced budget or the result will be that the dollar bill and
     7  all other paper currency will be worthless; and
     8     WHEREAS, There seems to be little tangible benefit to the
     9  Nation as a result of deficit spending; therefore be it
    10     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the
    11  Commonwealth of Pennsylvania memorializes the Congress of the
    12  United States to take whatever steps are necessary to hold the
    13  line on Federal expenditures, reduce the deficit, and develop a
    14  short-range plan to balance the budget in the near future; and
    15  be it further
    16     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
    17  the President of the United States, the Speaker of the United

     1  States House of Representatives, the President pro tempore of
     2  the United States Senate, and to each Senator and Representative
     3  from Pennsylvania in the Congress of the United States.
