HOUSE RESOLUTION

No. 205 Session of 1976

                       In the House of Representatives, February 4, 1976

     1     WHEREAS, The General Assembly of the Commonwealth, in
     2  conjunction with the Governor and the Judiciary, is directly
     3  responsible for the many and diverse functions of the government
     4  of Pennsylvania; and
     5     WHEREAS, The General Assembly has passed and extensively
     6  amended the act of April 9, 1929 (P.L.177, No.175), known as
     7  "The Administrative Code of 1929," to control, direct and refine
     8  the multitude of governmental functions which have a significant
     9  affect upon the lives of every citizen of the Commonwealth; and
    10     WHEREAS, The General Assembly desires to further modernize
    11  and refine the powers, duties, functions and operations of the
    12  various departments, agencies, boards and commissions in order
    13  to insure greater efficiency and economy in governmental
    14  operations; therefore be it
    15     RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly
    16  of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania directs the Joint State
    17  Government Commission to organize a task force to conduct an in-
    18  depth study of "The Administrative Code of 1929," directed to

     1  the modernization and codification of the laws affecting the
     2  powers, duties, functions and operations of the government of
     3  Pennsylvania; and be it further
     4     RESOLVED, That the Joint State Government Commission report
     5  the findings of the task force along with appropriate drafts of
     6  legislation to the General Assembly as soon as possible.
