HOUSE RESOLUTION

        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, APRIL 15, 1975

                         In the House of Representatives, April 14, 1975

     1     WHEREAS, There is at the present time only one National
     2  Cemetery in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in which those who
     3  have served their country with honor may be buried; and
     4     WHEREAS, This one National Cemetery located at the historical
     5  site of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania has currently been filled and
     6  can no longer accept the remains of deceased veterans and their
     7  families; and
     8     WHEREAS, It is the belief of this General Assembly that those
     9  who have served this Commonwealth and the United States with
    10  honor should be entitled to an honored resting place at their
    11  life's end; therefore, be it
    12     RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly
    13  does memorialize the Congress of the United States to establish
    14  a new National Cemetery in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and
    15  be it further
    16     RESOLVED, That the General Assembly does memorialize the
    17  Congress of the United States to study the suitability of
    18  acquiring land for a new National Cemetery adjacent to or in the

     1  vicinity of the historical site of Valley Forge which is a
     2  symbol of the American heritage common to both the people of the
     3  United States and the people of Pennsylvania; and be it further
     4     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be sent to presiding
     5  officers of both Houses of Congress and to each Representative
     6  and Senator in the Congress of the United States from the
     7  Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
