AN ACT
1 Amending the act of August 1, 1975 (No.87), entitled "An act
2 relating to pensions for employees of the City of
3 Pittsburgh," authorizing members to purchase credit for
4 military service and clarifying the effective date of the
5 act.
6 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
7 hereby enacts as follows:
8 Section 1. Section 4, act of August 1, 1975 (No.87),
9 entitled "An act relating to pensions for employees of the City
10 of Pittsburgh," is amended by adding a subsection to read:
11 Section 4. Contributions by Members.--* * *
12 (f.1) Any member may purchase full credit toward his pension
13 for service with the armed forces or militia occurring prior to
14 or during such city service, not to exceed three years. Members
15 desiring such credit shall be required to pay to the fund an
16 amount equal to 5% of the salary or wages he would have earned
17 had he been an employee during the period of military service,
18 with interest at the rate of 5% of the amount paid into the
19 fund.
1 Section 2. Section 13 of the act is amended to read:
2 Section 13. Effective Date.--This act shall take effect
3 immediately and shall be retroactive to January 1, 1975.
4 Section 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
