A RESOLUTION
1Designating the week of May 11 through 17, 2014, as "Hospital
2Week" in Pennsylvania.
3WHEREAS, Pennsylvania's hospitals play an integral role in
4delivering health care services to all the people of this
5Commonwealth, providing acute inpatient care, as well as
6outpatient, emergency, rehabilitation and psychiatric services;
7and
8WHEREAS, As part of their mission to their communities,
9hospitals provide many services in addition to direct delivery
10of health care; and
11WHEREAS, Hospitals provide free care to those who have no
12health care insurance or inadequate insurance coverage; and
13WHEREAS, Hospitals are a key element in Pennsylvania's
14economy and are often the leading employer in their community;
15and
16WHEREAS, Hospitals are reaching out to many other interests
1in their communities to form partnerships for a healthy America;
2therefore be it
3RESOLVED, That the Senate designate May 11 through 17, 2014,
4as "Hospital Week" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
5RESOLVED, That the Senate urge its members to visit the
6hospitals in their districts in recognition of the vital role
7that hospitals play in Pennsylvania's communities and health
8care systems.
