1Recognizing the week of October 13 through 19, 2013, as "Credit
2Union Week" in Pennsylvania.

3WHEREAS, Credit unions are individual, independent
4cooperatives founded by people working together toward economic
5advancement, uniting people seeking a way to improve their
6future; and

7WHEREAS, Credit unions call for the pooling of personal
8resources and leadership abilities for the good of the
9cooperative, provide low-cost financial services to their
10members, encourage a regular habit of saving so those in need
11may borrow, and foster the desire to repay loans so members may
12have access to credit when it is required; and

13WHEREAS, Pennsylvania currently has 499 credit unions
14empowering people to improve their economic situations by
15serving the financial needs of 3.7 million members, associated
16through State, regional, local and international organizations
17sharing the same commitment to serve credit union members; and

1WHEREAS, Credit unions encourage and sponsor activities to
2promote the charitable acts of their members; and

3WHEREAS, The unselfish efforts of volunteers organized
4through credit unions have benefited many worthwhile causes
5throughout this Commonwealth and beyond; therefore be it

6RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the week of October 13
7through 19, 2013, as "Credit Union Week" in Pennsylvania; and be
8it further

9RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
10the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association.
