AN ACT
1 Amending the act of August 22, 1953 (P.L.1344, No.383), entitled
2 "An act relating to marriage; and amending, revising,
3 consolidating and changing the law relating thereto,"
4 eliminating the requirement for a premarital examination for
5 syphilis.
6 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
7 hereby enacts as follows:
8 Section 1. Sections 5(a) and 6 of the act of August 22, 1953
9 (P.L.1344, No.383), known as The Marriage Law, are repealed.
10 Section 2. Section 18 of the act is amended to read:
11 Section 18. Preparation of Forms.--Applications for licenses
12 to marry, consent certificates, marriage licenses, and other
13 necessary forms, shall be supplied to the clerk of the orphans'
14 court by the county commissioners, at the expense of the county,
15 and shall be uniform throughout the Commonwealth, as prepared by
16 the Department of Health. [Statements of physicians and
17 laboratories relative to examination for syphilis, as prepared
18 by the Department of Health, shall be furnished from time to
19 time to the several clerks of the orphans' court of this

2 Section 3. Section 21(b) of the act is repealed.
3 Section 4. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
