AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, further defining "emergency vehicles."
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. The definition of "emergency vehicle" in section
6 102, act of November 25, 1970 (P.L.707, No.230), known as the
7 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, added June 17, 1976 (No.81),
8 is amended to read:
9 § 102. Definitions.
10 Subject to additional definitions contained in subsequent
11 provisions of this title which are applicable to specific
12 provisions of this title, the following words and phrases when
13 used in this title shall have, unless the content clearly
14 indicates otherwise, the meanings given to them in this section:

16 "Emergency vehicle." A fire department vehicle, police
17 vehicle, ambulance, blood-delivery vehicle, armed forces
18 emergency vehicle, one private vehicle of a fire or police chief
1 or assistant chief or ambulance corps or rescue organization
2 commander or assistant commander [or of a river rescue
3 commander] used for answering emergency calls or other vehicle
4 designated by the State Police under section 6106 (relating to
5 designation of emergency vehicles by Pennsylvania State Police).

7 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 1977.
