1Amending the act of July 9, 1987 (P.L.220, No.39), entitled "An
2act licensing and regulating the practice of social work;
3providing penalties; and making an appropriation," further
4providing for continuing education as a condition of license
5renewal.

6The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
7hereby enacts as follows:

8Section 1. Section 18 of the act of July 9, 1987 (P.L.220,
9No.39), known as the Social Workers, Marriage and Family
10Therapists and Professional Counselors Act, is amended by adding
11a subsection to read:

12Section 18. License renewal; records and fees.

14(a.1) Continuing education requirement.--Licensees subject
15to the continuing education requirements of 49 Pa. Code Ch. 49
16(relating to State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family
17Therapists and Professional Counselors-Licensure of Professional
18Counselors) who are employed or contracted by a county children
19and youth services agency must complete a minimum of three hours

1of continuing education courses or programs in the area of
2special education, including training on the exercise of rights
3associated with an individualized education program (IEP), as a
4portion of the total continuing education required for license
5renewal.
