AN ACT
1 Amending Title 24 (Education) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, further providing for disability annuities.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Section 8344 of Title 24, act of November 25,
6 1970 (P.L.707, No.230), known as the Pennsylvania Consolidated
7 Statutes, is amended by adding a subsection to read:
8 § 8344. Disability annuities.

10 (e) Disability resulting from assault.--The disability
11 annuity shall be increased by 25% if the member has sustained an
12 injury resulting from an assault or attempted assault, or from
13 maintaining or attempting to maintain discipline during the
14 course of employment. In the case of such injury, members with
15 five years or less of service shall be given the same benefits
16 as members with five to ten years of service.
17 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
