AN ACT
1 Amending Title 71 (State Government) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, providing for recontributions by
3 former members.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Title 71, act of November 25, 1970 (P.L.770,
7 No.230), known as the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, is
8 amended by adding a section to read:
9 § 5504.1. Contributions by former members.
10 (a) Contributions authorized.--Any former member who has
11 withdrawn his total accumulated deductions and who would
12 otherwise be considered a vestee except for the fact that he has
13 withdrawn his deductions, shall be entitled prior to reaching
14 superannuation age to recontribute the total amount of his
15 former contributions, plus interest at the rate of 8% per year
16 for each lapsed year since the contributions were withdrawn and
17 plus a processing fee of $100. Upon making all the payments
18 required by this section, the former member shall be considered
19 a vestee.
1 (b) Certification and method of payment.--The amount payable
2 shall be certified in each case by the board and shall be paid
3 within 30 days of the application of the former member for
4 revestment.
5 (c) Limitation.--No member shall be allowed to utilize the
6 provisions of this section more than once.
7 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
