AN ACT
1 Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
2 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, providing for an <--
3 ADDITIONAL JUDGES ON THE COMMONWEALTH COURT AND FOR <--
4 additional judge in the tenth judicial district. JUDGES IN <--
5 THE SIXTH, SEVENTH, NINTH, TENTH, FIFTEENTH, SEVENTEENTH,
6 NINETEENTH, TWENTY-THIRD, TWENTY-FOURTH, THIRTY-SECOND,
7 FORTY-SECOND AND FIFTY-FIRST JUDICIAL DISTRICTS.
8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
9 hereby enacts as follows:
10 Section 1. Section SECTIONS 561 AND 911 of Title 42 of the <--
11 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is ARE amended to read: <--
12 § 561. COMMONWEALTH COURT. <--
13 THE COMMONWEALTH COURT OF PENNSYLVANIA SHALL CONSIST OF
14 [NINE] 11 JUDGES.
15 § 911. Courts of common pleas.
16 (a) General rule.--There shall be one court of common pleas
17 for each judicial district of this Commonwealth consisting of
18 the following number of judges:

1 Sixtieth 1
2 (b) Single county districts.--In single county judicial
3 districts the court of common pleas of the district shall be
4 known as the "Court of Common Pleas of (the respective) County."
5 (c) Multicounty districts.--In multicounty judicial
6 districts the court of common pleas of the district shall be
7 known as the "Court of Common Pleas of the (respective) Judicial
8 District." There shall be a separate branch of the court in each
9 county comprising the judicial district.
10 Section 2. The vacancy VACANCIES created by the new <--
11 judgeship JUDGESHIPS added by section 1 of this act shall be <--
12 filled pursuant to 42 Pa.C.S. § 3135 (relating to increase in <--
13 number of judges) BY ELECTION. <--
14 Section 3. This act shall take effect January 1, 1984 1985. <--
