AN ACT
1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2 act relating to the public school system, including certain
3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5 laws relating thereto," further providing for the oaths of
6 office; and making an editorial change.
7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
8 hereby enacts as follows:
9 Section 1. Section 1004 of the act of March 10, 1949
10 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949,
11 amended January 14, 1970 (1969 P.L.468, No.192), is amended to
12 read:
13 Section 1004. Oath of Office.--Every person elected or
14 appointed as executive director of the intermediate unit,
15 district superintendent, assistant executive director of the
16 intermediate unit, or district superintendent shall, before
17 entering upon the duties of his office, subscribe to and take,
18 before [the Superintendent of Public Instruction, or before any
19 judge of a court of common pleas in this Commonwealth,] any
1 person authorized to administer oaths within the Commonwealth,
2 the same oath or affirmation as has herein been prescribed to be
3 taken by persons elected to the office of school director. Such
4 oath or affirmation, being attested by the [Superintendent of
5 Public Instruction or judge,] person administering the oath
6 shall be filed in the office of the [Superintendent of Public
7 Instruction] Secretary of Education.
8 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
