                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of May 1, 1933 (P.L.103, No.69), entitled "An
     2     act concerning townships of the second class; and amending,
     3     revising, consolidating, and changing the law relating
     4     thereto," further providing for certain insurance coverage
     5     for supervisors.

     6     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     7  hereby enacts as follows:
     8     Section 1.  Section 515(c)(4) of the act of May 1, 1933
     9  (P.L.103, No.69), known as The Second Class Township Code,
    10  amended March 30, 1988 (P.L.312, No.41), is amended to read:
    11     Section 515.  Compensation of Supervisors.--* * *
    12     (c)  In addition to the compensation authorized under this
    13  section, supervisors while in office or while in the employ of
    14  the township may be eligible for inclusion in township-paid
    15  insurance plans, as follows:
    16     * * *
    17     (4)  Supervisors and their dependents, whether or not they
    18  are employed by the township, shall also be eligible for

     1  inclusion in township group life, health, hospitalization,
     2  medical service and accident insurance plans [if they pay their
     3  pro rata share of the premium] paid in whole or in part by the
     4  township. Their inclusion in such plans shall not require
     5  auditor approval, but shall require the submission of a letter
     6  requesting such participation at a regularly scheduled meeting
     7  of the board of township supervisors prior to commencing such
     8  participation. Such insurance shall be uniformly applicable to
     9  those covered and shall not give eligibility preference to, or
    10  improperly discriminate in favor of, supervisors.
    11     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
