                                     AN ACT

     1  Providing for a study by the Department of Environmental
     2     Resources of the feasibility of establishing a Pennsylvania
     3     Youth Conservation Corps.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6  Section 1.  Study by department.
     7     The Department of Environmental Resources is hereby directed
     8  to conduct a study of the costs, benefits and general
     9  feasibility of a conservation camp program, to be known as the
    10  Pennsylvania Youth Conservation Corps. The purpose of this
    11  program would be to restore those areas of the Commonwealth and
    12  its natural resources degraded by coal mining operations,
    13  erosion and pollution, similar to the program of the former
    14  Federal Civilian Conservation Corps.
    15  Section 2.  Report to General Assembly.
    16     The department shall make its report to the Governor and to
    17  the General Assembly within one year of the date of final


     1  enactment.
     2  Section 3.  Effective date.
     3     This act shall take effect immediately.
