        AS REPORTED FROM COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORTATION, HOUSE OF
           REPRESENTATIVES, AS AMENDED, MAY 22, 2007

                                     AN ACT

     1  Designating a portion of Dreshertown Road STATE ROUTE 2024,       <--
     2     KNOWN AS DRESHERTOWN ROAD, in Montgomery County, as the
     3     Sergeant James R. Miller Memorial Highway.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6  Section 1.  Sergeant James R. Miller Memorial Highway.
     7     (a)  Declaration of policy.--The General Assembly finds and
     8  declares as follows:
     9         (1)  James R. Miller was a resident of Upper Dublin
    10     Township, Montgomery County, and served on the Upper Dublin
    11     Police Department for 28 years. He was a patrol sergeant for
    12     the last 21 years of his service on the force.
    13         (2)  Before joining the Upper Dublin Police Department,

     1     Sergeant Miller served with distinction in the United States
     2     Air Force.
     3         (3)  At age 55, Sergeant Miller died in an automobile
     4     accident while on duty, on the morning of Tuesday, April 20,
     5     2004. He is survived by his wife, two children and two
     6     grandchildren.
     7     (b)  Designation.--Dreshertown Road STATE ROUTE 2024, KNOWN    <--
     8  AS DRESHERTOWN ROAD, in Montgomery County, Upper Dublin
     9  Township, between Route 63, Welsh Road and Route 152, North
    10  Limekiln Pike is hereby designated as the Sergeant James R.
    11  Miller Memorial Highway.
    12     (c)  Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
    13  maintain appropriate signs to indicate the designation under
    14  subsection (b).
    15  Section 2.  Effective date.
    16     This act shall take effect in 60 days.
