1Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, further providing for examination of applicant for
3driver's license.

4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:

6Section 1. Section 1508 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
7Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsections to
8read:

9§ 1508. Examination of applicant for driver's license.

11(e) Third party testing.--The department may authorize a
12third party to administer the portion of the examination that
13demonstrates the applicant's ability to exercise ordinary and
14reasonable control in the operation of a motor vehicle of the
15type or class of vehicles for which the applicant desires a
16license to drive. Third party providers shall only administer

1exams required in this section if:

2(1) The test is the same test as that which would
3otherwise be administered by the department.

4(2) The third party has entered into an agreement with
5the department, and <-that the agreement has not been
6terminated by the department.

7(f) <-Driver's Driver License Examiners.--No layoffs shall
8occur in the <-classification known as Driver's classifications
9known as Driver License Examiner<-, Driver License Examiner
10Assistant and Driver License Center Supervisor as a result of
11this section.

12Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
