1Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, further providing for examination of applicant for
3driver's license.

4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:

6Section 1. Section 1508 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
7Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsections to
8read:

9§ 1508. Examination of applicant for driver's license.

11(e) Third party testing.--The department may authorize a
12third party to administer the portion of the examination that
13demonstrates the applicant's ability to exercise ordinary and
14reasonable control in the operation of a motor vehicle of the
15type or class of vehicles for which the applicant desires a
16license to drive. Third party providers shall only administer
17exams required in this section if:

1(1) The test is the same test as that which would
2otherwise be administered by the department.

3(2) The third party has entered into an agreement with
4the department, and that the agreement has not been
5terminated by the department.

6(f) Driver's License Examiners.--No layoffs shall occur in
7the classification known as Driver's License Examiner as a
8result of this section.

9Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
