AN ACT
1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2 act relating to the public school system, including certain
3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5 laws relating thereto," requiring a school nurse to be on the
6 premises in schools for the handicapped in first class school
7 districts.
8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
9 hereby enacts as follows:
10 Section 1. Section 1402, act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30,
11 No.14), known as the "Public School Code of 1949," is amended by
12 adding a subsection to read:
13 Section 1402. Health Services.--* * *
14 (g) Every school designated by the board of education or the
15 superintendent in a first class school district as a school for
16 the handicapped shall have a school nurse on the premises at all
17 times during school hours. FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS SUBSECTION, <--
18 "SCHOOL" SHALL MEAN ANY ANNEX, WING, OTHER ANCILLARY STRUCTURE
19 OR DISCRETE BUILDING HAVING EIGHT OR MORE CLASS ROOMS USED
20 SOLELY AND EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE EDUCATION OF EXCEPTIONAL
1 CHILDREN.
2 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
