        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           OCTOBER 23, 2006

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the memory of former State Representative Orville E.
     2     Snare.

     3     WHEREAS, On July 13, 2006, former Representative Orville E.
     4  Snare passed away; and
     5     WHEREAS, Mr. Snare was an outstanding citizen of this
     6  Commonwealth and this nation; and
     7     WHEREAS, Mr. Snare served his country in World War II as a
     8  soldier, earning the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense
     9  Service Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, and
    10  continued his service by membership in the American Legion and
    11  the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and
    12     WHEREAS, Mr. Snare worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad as a
    13  brakeman and a conductor and for the Department of Highways
    14  (currently the Department of Transportation) as a project
    15  engineer; and
    16     WHEREAS, Mr. Snare was successful as the owner of a local
    17  grocery and meat market; and


     1     WHEREAS, Mr. Snare also served as a volunteer firefighter;
     2  and
     3     WHEREAS, In 1956 this community leader from Smithfield
     4  Township came to the State Capitol to represent Huntingdon
     5  County in the House of Representatives and continued this
     6  service for 14 years, chairing the Conservation and Natural
     7  Resources Committee (currently the Environmental Resources and
     8  Energy Committee) and serving on the Military Affairs Committee
     9  (currently Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness
    10  Committee); therefore be it
    11     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the memory
    12  of Orville E. Snare as a citizen, veteran, businessman,
    13  community leader and public official; and be it further
    14     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
    15  the First United Methodist Church, 425 Mifflin Street,
    16  Huntingdon, Pennsylvania 16652.
