A RESOLUTION 1 Congratulating the United Ukrainian American Relief Committee, 2 Inc., on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of its 3 founding. 4 WHEREAS, The United Ukrainian American Relief Committee, Inc. 5 (UUARC) is a private, nonprofit charitable organization with 6 international headquarters in Philadelphia, incorporated in 1944 7 for the purposes of coordinating and providing humanitarian aid 8 to immigrants and needy persons throughout the world; and 9 WHEREAS, After World War II, UUARC's first assistance effort 10 was the resettlement of 90,000 refugees from the Ukraine; and 11 WHEREAS, Over the past 60 years UUARC has implemented 12 humanitarian aid programs in coordination with numerous domestic 13 and international organizations, including the American Red
1 Cross, CARE, the International Organization for Resettlement and 2 the United Way; and 3 WHEREAS, On November 28, 2004, UUARC celebrates the 60th 4 anniversary of its founding and its record of dedicated service 5 to the global Ukrainian community; therefore be it 6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate the 7 United Ukrainian American Relief Committee, Inc., on the 8 occasion of the 60th anniversary of its founding.
