        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           SEPTEMBER 15, 2008

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the month of September 2008 as "POW-MIA Month" in
     2     Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, As a result of the United States engagement in the
     4  Cold War, 126 United States Air Force servicemen remain missing,
     5  16 of whom are from this Commonwealth; and
     6     WHEREAS, As a result of the United States military campaign
     7  to defend the democracy of South Korea, more than 8,145 United
     8  States servicemen remain missing, 589 of whom are from this
     9  Commonwealth; and
    10     WHEREAS, Thirty-one years after the end of the Vietnam War

     1  1,806 servicemen remain missing, 97 of whom are from this
     2  Commonwealth; therefore be it
     3     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives, with gratitude
     4  for the sacrifices of missing soldiers and their families,
     5  designate the month of September 2008 as "POW-MIA Month" in
     6  Pennsylvania; and be it further
     7     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
     8  the Governor, to the Adjutant General, to county Veterans
     9  Affairs offices and to other veterans organizations.
