A RESOLUTION

 

1Designating April 8, 2014, as "Dog Fighting Awareness Day" in
2Pennsylvania.

3WHEREAS, Dog fighting is criminal conduct in this
4Commonwealth; and

5WHEREAS, Dog fighting is a form of animal cruelty that
6persists across America; and

7WHEREAS, More than 1,000,000 dogs are licensed in this
8Commonwealth; and

9WHEREAS, Dogs are "man's best friend," and dog fighting
10represents the ultimate betrayal of the relationship between
11humans and dogs; and

12WHEREAS, Increasing the public's awareness of the signs of
13dog fighting to encourage the reporting of suspected cases of
14dog fighting is an important priority; and

15WHEREAS, The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty

1to Animals has designated April 8, 2014, as National Dog
2Fighting Awareness Day; therefore be it

3RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate April
48, 2014, as "Dog Fighting Awareness Day" in Pennsylvania.
