AN ACT 1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An 2 act relating to the public school system, including certain 3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial 4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the 5 laws relating thereto," further providing for written 6 agreements between districts. 7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 8 hereby enacts as follows: 9 Section 1. Section 1703 of the act of March 10, 1949 10 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is 11 amended to read: 12 Section 1703. Written Agreements between Districts.--No 13 joint school or department of any kind shall be established, 14 unless the several districts intending to establish the same 15 shall first enter into and record in their respective minutes a 16 written agreement, by and among themselves agreeing that such 17 proposed joint school or department shall be established and 18 maintained by the several districts, in such manner and 19 proportion, and upon such terms as the several districts may 20 then agree upon, and no change shall be made therein without the
1 consent of [each school district first obtained, by the 2 affirmative vote of a majority of the school directors thereof] 3 two-thirds of the school districts first obtained by the 4 affirmative vote of the majority of the members' respective 5 school directors. 6 Section 2. Section 1850.1(a) of the act, added February 1, 7 1966 (1965 P.L.1632, No.579), is amended to read: 8 Section 1850.1. Organization and Operation of Schools and 9 Institutes.--(a) Schools and institutes shall be the 10 responsibility of the participating boards of school directors 11 of an approved attendance area. Such boards of school directors 12 shall have authority to enter into a written agreement by and 13 among themselves establishing such school or institute setting 14 forth, inter alia, the rights and obligations of the 15 participating districts. No change shall be made in such 16 agreement without the consent of [each participating school 17 district first obtained, by the affirmative vote of a majority 18 of the school directors thereof] two-thirds of the school 19 districts first obtained by the affirmative vote of the majority 20 of the members' respective school directors. The several 21 participating boards of school directors shall collectively be 22 known as the area vocational-technical board. 23 * * * 24 Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
