A RESOLUTION

Designating the month of March 2010 as "DeMolay Month" in

2

Pennsylvania.

3

WHEREAS, The Order of DeMolay is a character-building

4

organization of young men from 12 to 21 years of age; and

5

WHEREAS, These young men seek to prepare themselves to become

6

better citizens and leaders for tomorrow; and

7

WHEREAS, DeMolay helps develop those traits of character

8

which have strengthened good men in all ages; and

9

WHEREAS, DeMolay has carried out its goals for 80 years

10

through programs of athletic competition, social activity, civic

11

service and charitable projects; and

12

WHEREAS, Pennsylvania DeMolay has operated in this

13

Commonwealth since 1923 and presently has 25 chapters, with more

14

than 735 members and 220 trained, certified and background-

checked adult leaders; and

2

WHEREAS, Pennsylvania's DeMolay chapters continue to provide

3

leadership training and teach civic responsibility to all its

4

members without using public facilities or any taxpayer dollars;

5

and

6

WHEREAS, Pennsylvania's DeMolay chapters have earned and

7

contributed over $100,000 toward the instruction of children

8

with dyslexia over the past ten years; and

9

WHEREAS, Pennsylvania's DeMolay chapters have experienced new

10

growth in membership for the past three years, serving more

11

young men and more communities across this Commonwealth;

12

therefore be it

13

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the

14

month of March 2010 as "DeMolay Month" in Pennsylvania.
