        SENATOR THOMPSON, APPROPRIATIONS, IN SENATE, RE-REPORTED AS
           AMENDED, JUNE 23, 2003

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 22, 1931 (P.L.594, No.203), entitled
     2     "An act establishing certain township roads as State
     3     highways; authorizing their construction, maintenance, and
     4     improvement under certain conditions and restrictions;
     5     limiting the obligation of the Commonwealth in the
     6     construction of certain structures located on such highways;
     7     conferring certain powers upon the Department of Highways and
     8     local authorities, persons, associations and corporations for
     9     sharing the cost of the maintenance and construction of such
    10     highways; and making an appropriation to carry out the
    11     provisions of said act," adding PIKETOWN ROAD, WEST HANOVER    <--
    12     TOWNSHIP, DAUPHIN COUNTY, AND Colebrook Road, East Donegal
    13     Township, Lancaster County, to the State highway system.       <--

    14     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    15  hereby enacts as follows:
    16     Section 1.  The SECTIONS 23 AND 37 OF THE act of June 22,      <--
    17  1931 (P.L.594, No.203), referred to as the Township State
    18  Highway Law, is ARE amended by adding the following route:        <--
    19  ROUTES TO READ:                                                   <--
    20     SECTION 23.  THE TOWNSHIP ROADS TO BE TAKEN OVER, UNDER THE
    21  PROVISIONS OF THIS ACT, IN THE COUNTY OF DAUPHIN, ARE THOSE
    22  SITUATE AND DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS:

     1     * * *
     2     PIKETOWN ROAD ROUTE T-560. THE SECTION OF PIKETOWN ROAD
     3  BEGINNING AT ROUTE T-561 (BLUE RIDGE AVENUE) STATION 0+00
     4  (FORMERLY LEGISLATIVE ROUTE 22020) HEADING IN A NORTHERLY
     5  DIRECTION TO A POINT AT BEAVER CREEK/LOWER PAXTON TOWNSHIP LINE,
     6  STATION 61+14 (FORMERLY LEGISLATIVE ROUTE 22070) A DISTANCE OF
     7  6,114 FEET OR 1.157 MILES.
     8     Section 37.  The township roads to be taken over, under the
     9  provisions of this act, in the COUNTY OF LANCASTER, are those
    10  situate and described as follows:

    12     Route 36179.  Beginning at Mt. Joy Pike, State Route 772,
    13  Station 52+44 (formerly Legislative Route 36004) heading in a
    14  northerly direction to State Route 4002 (Donegal Springs Road)
    15  Station 183+99 (formerly Legislative Route 36004) a distance of
    16  13,155 feet or 2.491 miles.
    17     Section 2.  If East Donegal Township accepts the turnback of   <--
    18     SECTION 2.  (A)  IF WEST HANOVER TOWNSHIP ACCEPTS THE TURN-    <--
    19  BACK OF GREEN HILL ROAD (STATE ROUTE 2026) FROM A BEGINNING
    20  POINT AT OAK GROVE ROAD, SEGMENT 0010 OFFSET 0000 (STATION 0+00)
    21  HEADING IN AN EASTERLY DIRECTION TO STATE ROUTE 39, SEGMENT 0030
    22  OFFSET 2235 (STATION 82+83) FOR A DISTANCE OF 8,426 FEET OR
    23  1.595 MILES, HAVING AN EXISTING RIGHT-OF-WAY WIDTH OF 33 FEET,
    24  THEN THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SHALL TRANSMIT NOTICE OF
    25  THE ACCEPTANCE TO THE LEGISLATIVE REFERENCE BUREAU FOR
    26  PUBLICATION IN THE PENNSYLVANIA BULLETIN.
    27     (B)  IF EAST DONEGAL TOWNSHIP ACCEPTS THE TURNBACK OF Donegal
    28  Springs Road (State Route 4002) from a beginning point at State
    29  Route 0743, Segment 0050 offset 0000 (Station 143+89) to
    30  Colebrook Road, Segment 0080 offset 1618 (Station 241+50) for a

     1  distance of 9,759 feet or 1.848 miles, having an existing right-
     2  of-way width of 33 feet, then the Department of Transportation
     3  shall transmit notice of the acceptance to the Legislative
     4  Reference Bureau for publication in the Pennsylvania Bulletin.
     5     Section 3.  This act shall take effect as follows:
     6         (1)  THE AMENDMENT OF SECTION 23 OF THE ACT SHALL TAKE     <--
     7     EFFECT UPON PUBLICATION OF THE NOTICE PURSUANT TO SECTION
     8     2(A).
     9         (1)  The amendment of Section                              <--
    10         (2)  THE AMENDMENT OF SECTION 37 of the act shall take     <--
    11     effect upon publication of the notice pursuant to section 2    <--
    12     2(B).                                                          <--
    13         (2) (3)  The remainder of this act shall take effect       <--
    14     immediately.
