        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           JUNE 4, 2002

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Recognizing June 1 through 9, 2002, as "National Fishing and
     2     Boating Week."

     3     WHEREAS, Pennsylvania offers abundant and diverse aquatic
     4  resources, from tumbling mountain brooks to the seemingly
     5  endless expanses of a great lake; and
     6     WHEREAS, There are more than 83,000 miles of streams and
     7  rivers in this Commonwealth, along with 4,000 inland lakes and
     8  ponds and 470,000 acres of Lake Erie; and
     9     WHEREAS, The Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation has
    10  designated the period from June 1 through 9, 2002, as "National
    11  Fishing and Boating Week"; and
    12     WHEREAS, The mission of "National Fishing and Boating Week"
    13  is to raise awareness of the opportunities, benefits and values


     1  associated with boating, fishing and stewardship of our aquatic
     2  resources; and
     3     WHEREAS, "National Fishing and Boating Week" is a great time
     4  for Pennsylvanians of all ages to connect with their families
     5  and celebrate the wonders of fishing and boating on the
     6  waterways of this Commonwealth; and
     7     WHEREAS, Saturday, June 1, 2002, and September 28, 2002, are
     8  designated as "Fish-for-Free" days in Pennsylvania, a time when
     9  every Pennsylvanian can experience fishing in the waters of this
    10  Commonwealth; and
    11     WHEREAS, Events are scheduled across this Commonwealth to
    12  mark the designated "Fish-for-Free" days and "National Fishing
    13  and Boating Week"; therefore be it
    14     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize June 1
    15  through 9, 2002, as "National Fishing and Boating Week"; and be
    16  it further
    17     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize June 1,
    18  2002, and September 28, 2002, as "Fish for Free" days; and be it
    19  further
    20     RESOLVED, That all Pennsylvanians be aware that "Water Works
    21  Wonders in Pennsylvania" and take advantage of the bountiful
    22  aquatic resources of our great Commonwealth.
