A RESOLUTION
1Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the King of Prussia Mall.
2WHEREAS, The King of Prussia Mall officially opened in 1963
3and serves the Greater Philadelphia region including Montgomery,
4Chester, Delaware and Philadelphia Counties; and
5WHEREAS, It is the largest shopping mall in the United States
6in terms of leasable retail space; and
7WHEREAS, The mall has over 400 stores, including such iconic
8stores as Nordstrom, Macy's, Lord & Taylor, Bloomingdale's and
9Neiman Marcus; and
10WHEREAS, The King of Prussia Mall attracts over ten million
11visitors a year; and
12WHEREAS, Roughly 20% of the mall's shoppers are tourists who
13are visiting the Philadelphia region and experiencing our great
14Commonwealth; and
15WHEREAS, Some luxury retailers have the King of Prussia Mall
1as their only location in the region, including Louis Vuitton,
2Gucci, Hugo Boss, Cartier and DKNY; and
3WHEREAS, The mall continues to expand and attract major
4retailers such as recent additions, including Vera Bradley, L.L.
5Bean, Touché Accessories, Lush Cosmetics, Omega, Aveda and Tommy
6Bahama; and
7WHEREAS, The collection of luxury retailers is unmatched in
8the region and the location is considered by many to be the
9ultimate mall in the nation; therefore be it
10RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commemorate this
11Commonwealth's King of Prussia Mall during its 50th anniversary
12as the premiere shopping destination on the east coast.
