AN ACT

Designating a bridge in Carroll Township, Washington County, as

the Stanley Jurgaitis Memorial Bridge.

The General Assembly finds and declares as follows:

(1)  Stanley Jurgaitis was a dedicated, active and

prominent member of the Carroll Township community.

(2)  Born in 1926 in the village of Hazel Kirk, Mr.

Jurgaitis served this country in World War II and was awarded

the Bronze Star for gallantry.

(3)  Mr. Jurgaitis worked as a coal miner for more than

20 years for Bethlehem Mines until its closing.

(4)  Mr. Jurgaitis spent the next 28 years working at

Fisher and Porter Company in Hatboro until his retirement.

(5)  Following his retirement, Mr. Jurgaitis returned to

Hazel Kirk where he resided for the remainder of his life,

passing away in 2008.

(6)  Mr. Jurgaitis was a member of the Dunkirk,

Pennsylvania, American Legion and personally maintained the

Hazel Kirk Honor Roll for many years.

(7)  Mr. Jurgaitis was a member of St. Anthony Catholic

Church in Monongahela.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Stanley Jurgaitis Memorial Bridge.

(a)  Designation.--The bridge in Carroll Township, Washington

County, on SR 2023 over Pigeon Creek is designated as the

Stanley Jurgaitis Memorial Bridge.

(b)  Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and

maintain signs displaying the name of the bridge to traffic in

both directions on the bridge.

Section 2.  Effective date.

This act shall take effect in 60 days.
