A RESOLUTION
1 Honoring the players and coaching staff of the Ridley High
2 School football team for continuing the tradition of
3 excellence of Green Raider football by capturing the Central
4 League Championship and the 2007 PIAA District I Class AAAA
5 Football Championship.
6 WHEREAS, The Green Raider football team of Ridley High
7 School, in the Ridley School District, Delaware County, has been
8 a juggernaut on the gridiron in southeastern Pennsylvania since
9 1934 by winning nearly 80% of their contests during that period;
10 and
11 WHEREAS, Many alumni continue to support the program by
12 assisting in efforts such as the development of the team weight
13 room; and
14 WHEREAS, Many boys in the area play youth football with the
15 dream of becoming part of the football legacy of the Ridley High
16 School Green Raiders; and
1 WHEREAS, In 2007, the Green Raider football team, under the
2 tutelage of Head Coach John Waller, proudly represented their
3 community by capturing the Central League Championship; and
4 WHEREAS, In addition, the Green Raider football team won the
5 much coveted 2007 PIAA District I Class AAAA Football
6 Championship; and
7 WHEREAS, The team extended the lore of the Green Raider
8 football team by bringing the 2007 PIAA District I Class AAAA
9 Football Championship trophy to Ridley High School for the first
10 time in school history; and
11 WHEREAS, The Green Raiders continued their season by
12 advancing to the semifinal round of the eastern State playoffs,
13 where they played valiantly but lost to Parkland High School;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, During their historic season, the team compiled a
16 record of 13-1 and outscored their opponents by an average of
17 more than 3:1; therefore be it
18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate the
19 Ridley High School Green Raider football team and Head Coach
20 John Waller on winning the Central League Championship and the
21 2007 PIAA District I Class AAAA Football Championship and adding
22 yet another chapter to the rich history of Green Raider
23 football.
