        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           OCTOBER 17, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the life of Private First Class Robert H. Dembowski,
     2     Jr., United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division, 1st
     3     Battalion of the 504 Parachute Infantry Regiment, Bravo
     4     Company, 2nd Platoon, who died while in the courageous
     5     service of his nation on May 24, 2007, in Baghdad, Iraq.

     6     WHEREAS, Private First Class Robert H. Dembowski, Jr., U.S.
     7  Army, 82nd Airborne Division, 1st Battalion of the 504 Parachute
     8  Infantry Regiment, Bravo Company, 2nd Platoon, died as a result
     9  of small arms fire at a checkpoint in Baghdad, Iraq, on
    10  Thursday, May 24, 2007; and
    11     WHEREAS, PFC Dembowski was born in Meadowbrook, Pennsylvania,
    12  on August 10, 1986, to Frances M. and Robert H. Dembowski, Sr.;

     1  and
     2     WHEREAS, PFC Dembowski was a graduate of Council Rock High
     3  School and Middle Bucks Institute of Technology, where he
     4  enjoyed history classes, welding, serving on the high school
     5  Student Advisory Board, competitive wrestling and hunting; and
     6     WHEREAS, Following his enlistment in the U.S. Army, PFC
     7  Dembowksi graduated in April 2006 from Basic Training at Fort
     8  Benning and from Airborne School at Fort Bragg in May 2006; and
     9     WHEREAS, PFC Dembowski was deployed to Iraq on January 2,
    10  2007, where he served as a machine gunner; and
    11     WHEREAS, PFC Dembowski's military awards include the Bronze
    12  Star, Order of the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal,
    13  the Good Conduct Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the National
    14  Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service
    15  Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Combat Infantryman Badge and
    16  the Parachutist Badge; and
    17     WHEREAS, PFC Dembowski is survived by his parents; by two
    18  sisters, Janice and Amy Beth; by a brother, Frank; and by his
    19  paternal grandmother, Eva Davison; and
    20     WHEREAS, For his valor and courageous service in Iraq, and
    21  for paying the supreme sacrifice for his nation, his fellow
    22  citizens of Pennsylvania owe PFC Dembowski immense gratitude;
    23  therefore be it
    24     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives give honor for
    25  the life of Private First Class Robert H. Dembowski, Jr., U.S.
    26  Army, who died as a result of wounds suffered from small arms
    27  fire on May 24, 2007, at a checkpoint in Baghdad, Iraq.
