A RESOLUTION
1Honoring the life of Magisterial District Judge Robert C. Wyda
2and extending condolences to his family.
3WHEREAS, Magisterial District Judge Robert C. Wyda, who
4served Bethel Park and Upper St. Clair in Allegheny County, died
5on August 5, 2013; and
6WHEREAS, Judge Wyda, a Bethel Park native, was born on March
726, 1959; and
8WHEREAS, Judge Wyda, a graduate of Duquesne University and
9Duquesne School of Law, was an Allegheny County assistant
10district attorney from 1990 to 1997 and an assistant court
11administrator for legal affairs in the court of common pleas
12from 1997 to 2000 before running for judge; and
13WHEREAS, Elected to the magisterial court in 1999, Judge Wyda
14took office in 2000; and
15WHEREAS, With 26 years combined active duty and reserve duty,
16Judge Wyda served as a commander in the Navy Reserve JAG Corps
17and deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq and Guantanamo Bay during the
18War on Terror to prosecute terrorists; and
1WHEREAS, Judge Wyda received the Defense Meritorious Service
2Medal and Army and Navy Commendation Medals; and
3WHEREAS, In Judge Wyda's 13 years on the bench, he was widely
4respected as a fair-minded judge whose kind and calm manner
5assisted many young adults toward overcoming substance abuse
6problems; and
7WHEREAS, Judge Wyda made a practice of treating everyone who
8came before him with respect; and
9WHEREAS, Known as a devoted and good man, Judge Wyda will
10truly be missed; and
11WHEREAS, Judge Wyda is survived by his wife, Shannon; son,
12Jared; daughter, Rachel and mother, Martha; therefore be it
13RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the life of
14Magisterial District Judge Robert C. Wyda, express profound
15sorrow over the loss of this outstanding public servant and
16extend heartfelt condolences to his family.
