A RESOLUTION
1 Congratulating Knoebels Amusement Resort in Elysburg,
2 Northumberland County, on its 75th anniversary.
3 WHEREAS, Knoebels officially opened on July 4, 1926; and
4 WHEREAS, Knoebels is America's largest free admission
5 amusement park; and
6 WHEREAS, Brothers Dick and Ron Knoebel serve as co-general
7 managers and represent the third generation of the Knoebel
8 family to own and operate the park; and
9 WHEREAS, The rides and attractions at Knoebels Amusement
10 Resort have consistently been voted among the top ten in the
11 country in their categories; and
12 WHEREAS, The Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain proclaimed
13 the Phoenix as the Best International Roller Coaster and the
14 Haunted Mansion as the Best International Dark Ride; and
15 WHEREAS, The Discovery Channel featured Knoebels in four
16 programs in 1997 and 1998; and
17 WHEREAS, A special ceremony commemorating the 75th
1 anniversary is being held at the park on July 4, 2001; therefore
2 be it
3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate
4 Knoebels Amusement Resort on the occasion of its 75th
5 anniversary and wish Knoebels continued success for many years
6 to come.
