           F. E. TAYLOR, SHOWERS, JAROLIN, PETRONE, COWELL, ALDERETTE,
           PETRARCA, MARKOSEK, CLYMER, COHEN, PISTELLA, ARMSTRONG,
           CIMINI, COY, JOHNSON, MAIALE, BELOFF, COLE, SCHEETZ, FISCHER,
           DeWEESE, DOMBROWSKI, ANGSTADT, HERSHEY, WILSON, GLADECK,
           CALTAGIRONE, GRIECO, GODSHALL, SEMMEL, BELFANTI, STEVENS,

        AS AMENDED, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, OCTOBER 5, 1983

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Urging the Liquor Control Board to stop the purchase and sale of
     2     vodka and other alcoholic beverages made in the Soviet Union.

     3     WHEREAS, On August 31, 1983 a Korean Air Lines 747 was shot
     4  down by a Soviet aircraft missile killing 269 innocent persons;
     5  and
     6     WHEREAS, The Soviet Union at first lied about shooting down
     7  the helpless aircraft but later said it had indeed shot down the
     8  plane because it violated Russia's airspace and that it would do
     9  so again if the situation again occurred; and
    10     WHEREAS, The passengers of the downed aircraft came from many
    11  countries and included a United States Congressman and many
    12  women and children; and
    13     WHEREAS, The Soviets have expressed no sorrow, accepted no
    14  blame for the ruthless slaughter of innocent civilians in a
    15  peace time setting; therefore be it

     1     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives strongly urge the
     2  Liquor Control Board to halt the purchase at wholesale and the
     3  sale of any Russian made vodka or any other alcoholic beverage
     4  made in the Soviet Union FOR A PERIOD OF NO LESS THAN SIX         <--
     5  MONTHS; and be it further
     6     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
     7  the Liquor Control Board.
