A RESOLUTION
Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the establishment of Forest
Fire Wardens in this Commonwealth.
WHEREAS, There are approximately 2.2 million acres of State
forest lands and 17 million acres of woodlands that stretch
across this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Wildfire threatens these areas, especially during
the spring and fall; and
WHEREAS, In order to preserve these natural resources, the
Commonwealth relies on about 1,600 people who serve as volunteer
forest fire wardens; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania forest fire warden system was
established by the act of June 3, 1915 (P.L.797, No.353),
referred to as the Forest Fire Protection Act; and
