        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MARCH 12, 2001

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Commending the distinguished accomplishments of the Pennsylvania
     2     Association of Future Farmers of America throughout its 72
     3     years of service.

     4     WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Association of Future Farmers of
     5  America was chartered on September 25, 1929, and has
     6  approximately 8,300 members in 148 chapters; and
     7     WHEREAS, The mission of FFA is to make a positive difference
     8  in the lives of students by developing their potential for
     9  premier leadership, personal growth and career success through
    10  agricultural education; and
    11     WHEREAS, The FFA motto, "Learning to do, doing to learn,
    12  earning to live, living to serve," gives direction of purpose to
    13  these students who will provide the leadership for America; and


     1     WHEREAS, This year's theme, "FFA the Signature of Success,"
     2  illustrates how FFA's programs allow students the opportunity to
     3  apply classroom information to real-life situations; and
     4     WHEREAS, The FFA performs the valuable service of encouraging
     5  cooperation, promoting good citizenship and inspiring patriotism
     6  among its members; and
     7     WHEREAS, Since agriculture maintains the number one ranking
     8  as the Commonwealth's leading industry, it is vital for our
     9  residents to have at the very least a basic agricultural
    10  literacy, which can be acquired through participation in FFA;
    11  therefore be it
    12     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commend the
    13  distinguished accomplishments of the Pennsylvania Association of
    14  Future Farmers of America throughout its 72 years of service.
