A RESOLUTION 1 Encouraging Commonwealth hunters to share their harvest with the 2 needy; and calling upon the Department of Agriculture and the 3 Pennsylvania Game Commission to provide information about 4 donating big game and other lawfully taken wildlife to 5 interested individuals and groups. 6 WHEREAS, Big game season is upon us in this Commonwealth with 7 the opening of buck season on November 27; and 8 WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Game Commission is forecasting a 9 harvest of approximately 350,000 deer this season; and 10 WHEREAS, This Commonwealth has an abundance of hungry 11 families; and 12 WHEREAS, The alleviation of hunger and malnutrition and the 13 supplementation of existing food assistance programs can be 14 achieved through increased donations of food; and 15 WHEREAS, It would be most beneficial to have Pennsylvania 16 hunters share their harvest with the needy; therefore be it
1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage this 2 Commonwealth's hunters to share their harvest with the needy 3 this season and direct that copies of this resolution be 4 transmitted to the Department of Agriculture and the 5 Pennsylvania Game Commission; and be it further 6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage the 7 Department of Agriculture and the Pennsylvania Game Commission 8 to provide information about donating big game and other 9 lawfully taken wildlife to food banks, homeless shelters and 10 meat processors throughout this Commonwealth and any 11 individuals, nonprofit agencies, charitable organizations and 12 businesses requesting this information.
