Section 108. Funding for Polling Places.--(1) Except as
provided under paragraph (2), for fiscal year 2022-2023, and
each fiscal year thereafter, the amount of $18,318,000 is
appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of State to
be distributed to the counties for the purpose of funding the
costs of operating polling locations as follows:
(i) each county shall receive no less than $1,000 for each
voting district for the primary election; and
(ii) each county shall receive no less than $1,000 for each
voting district in the county for the general election.
(2) The Department of State shall annually calculate the
number of voting districts. If the number of voting districts
increases above the number of voting districts in existence on
the effective date of this section, the appropriation under
paragraph (1) shall increase so that each voting district shall
receive at least $1,000 for the primary election and $1,000 for
the general election.
(3) Fifty percent of the amount appropriated under paragraph
(1) shall be used for the primary election in a fiscal year and
fifty percent shall be used for the general election in a fiscal
year.
