WRIGHT, Richardson L., a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, August 30, 1820 in County Ulster, Ireland; attended, Mount Vernon School; tailor; clothing store clerk; merchant; farmer; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1853 term; reelected to the House for 3 more subsequent terms; elected, Speaker (1856); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1857-1859); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania Auditor General (1859); appointed, United States Assessor, 5th district of Pennsylvania (1867); appointed, member, Board of Port Wardens, Philadelphia; appointed, member, Pennsylvania Board of Education (1872-1904); died, September 10, 1904 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, All Saint’s Episcopal Church Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
