Porter (1839); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1841 and 1842 terms; judge, Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Pike County (appointed, 1843-1853; elected, 1856-1860); elected, treasurer, Pike County (1853-1856); collector of State improvements (1858-1859); appointed, clerk, United States Department of the Interior, Washington, DC (1860); commissioner to settle war claims (West Virginia, 1867; Indiana, 1868); clerk, United States Treasury Department (1869-1881); died, October 22, 1881 in Washington, District of Columbia; interred, Milford Cemetery, Milford, Pike County, Pennsylvania.
