KERR, Samuel, a Representative from Butler, Mercer, Venango and Warren Counties; born, circa 1790 in Maryland; farmer; manager, Mt. Etna furnace; manager, Hickory furnace; gubernatorial appointee, Pennsylvania Superintendent of Canals; justice of the peace, Butler County (1830-1834); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1833-1834 and 1834-1835 terms; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1836); reelected to the House for the 1843 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1844 term; reelected as a Republican to the House for the 1856 and 1857 terms; elected, associate judge, Mercer County (1851-1861); died, January of 1872 in Sandy Lake, Mercer County Pennsylvania.
